Photoshop Composite
This composite image demonstrates my erasing abilaties as well as illustrates an honest reflection of my subconscious.

I find it easy to agree with the argument-however- not easy to follow the kind of subtle hostility that goes along with the presentation of it.. hostility being a feeling that I get from Larry Lessig that our (meaning this country's) "kids" are being suffocated- censored to the point that their way of expressing themselves is being annihilated. Art and creativity is not easy to control- I believe only corporate exploitation where one party is benefiting off of the use of another's image without approval or compensation should be an issue- not posting material on YouTube that has copy write material in it... I am not dealing with this problem as of yet in my art so I cannot really apply the problem to myself...

....

This image was made in Adobe Illustrator. Following the previous Illustrator assignment we were meant to create an image of an influential person in our life in a different style than our self portrait.
This is a portrait of my sister in front of the profile of the city we grew up in as children, Seattle. I chose her because I really respect her. She confronted someone that was really difficult face and does not dwell upon the fact that even though it should have been an experience that was positive- life can really let you down.
In comparison to the form built up through multiple layers I wanted to simplify through bulky shapes capturing the subject.

self loathing

This project was made in Illustrator . The assignment was to create self portrait primarily utilizing text to create form. We were meant to have the content be a reflection of ourselves.
The text that builds up this portrait was taken from my favorite object in the world. It is a 3 by 5 inch note pad that has two years worth of wheel of fortune answers written in it. It is a log that was kept by my great aunt from 1992-1994. She is very special to me. Now she is kind of dying. My family, as well as myself, have kind of abandoned her because we cannot emotionally handle her loosing her mind and not knowing who we are anymore. She is a really sweet lady and I miss her- anyway there is no way to justify abandoning someone. The text in this portrait reflects the intense repetition involved in making that book. The background is a loop voicing of the regret that I rerun in my head because of my inaction.

Self portrait in Illustrator.
I have always wanted to be a Siamese twin.
I wish I had the time I would really like to invest into these projects . I really liked making this. If time stopped I would continue with even more layers like thin wet tissue paper.

.

This is a portrait of myself in Photoshop. I wanted to highlight what I find attractive in myself while at the same time really poke at a serious problem I have. I had fourteen cavities because of a sick addiction to sugar. I drink massive amounts of tea (loaded with sugar) and munch on Nerds (so I can get right to the source) -these hobbies of mine have made humongous holes in my pearl whites.

Assignment:

Using your creativity and the computer in front of you pretend that art does not exist and that you have to choose a new profession- I made this image because even though I am greatly looking forward to putting my apron away and getting a job in the field in which I have been studying- I do love waitressing. I love feeding people and watching them smoke a pack of cigarettes and drink a pot of coffee.
